Veolia aims for 10 pct sales growth, mostly organic, in coming years - CEO

BEIJING (Thomson Financial) - Veolia Environnement (Nachrichten/Aktienkurs) aims to achieve annual sales growth of 10 pct for the few next years, led by organic growth of around 7-8 pct, chief executive Henri Proglio said at a news conference in Beijing.

This rate of growth will allow the group to double in size in the next seven to eight years, he said, adding that the 10 pct target is considered 'as a minimum'.

In addition to organic growth, Veoila may expand by making 'a few comfortable acquisitions', Proglio said.

The CEO said in April that his group's strategic plan called for it to double in size within 10 years, driven by organic growth.

For 2007, Veolia is currently targeting an increase of over 12 pct in sales, having raised its guidance in August from a previous objective of at least 10 pct.

Regarding China, Proglio said Veolia is in 'advanced negotiations' to operate a bus network in the southwestern city of Chongqing. The contract covers around 1,000 buses and 1,500 staff.

Veolia currently generates around 1 bln usd in sales in China, including projects in development, the CEO said.

Veolia Environnement 9 mths sales up 13.3 pct on yr; confirms FY guidance UPDATE

(Adds opg profit and sales breakdown; changes sales figure upward to 23.321 bln)

PARIS (Thomson Financial) - Veolia Environnement (Nachrichten/Aktienkurs) said sales in the first nine months of the year were 23.321 bln eur, up 13.3 pct from a year earlier, largely due to acquisitions as external growth accounted for more than half of the gain.

The figure was near the high end of analysts' estimates.

Veolia also confirmed its full year growth and profitability guidance.

Operating profit for the period was 1.754 bln eur, up 12.7 pct from 1.557 bln a year earlier.

The 13.3 pct sales growth came from 7.3 pct external growth plus 6.7 pct from like-for-like growth, with a negative 0.7 pct coming from foreign exchange factors, mainly the weaker dollar.

Sales outside France rose to 55.5 pct of total company sales from 52.6 pct a year earlier.

The waste management division, as expected, posted the strongest growth with an 8.0 pct year-on-year sales gain, to 6.678 bln eur from 5.362 bln. External growth in this sector was 18.3 pct.

07.11 12:03

VEOLIA Environmental Services Acquires Bartin Recycling Group, the French No. 3 in Metal Recovery and Recycling

Regulatory News:

Veolia Environmental Services (Paris:VIE) announced the signature of an agreement to acquire the Bartin Recycling Group, the French number 3 in the recovery and recycling of ferrous and non-ferrous metals. The acquisition is in line with Veolia Environmental Services' strategy of “turning waste into a resource“ and of continuing to develop its waste management business in the recycling segment.

The Bartin Recycling Group specializes in the collection and recycling of industrial waste, in particular ferrous and non-ferrous metals. It generated revenue of €249 million in 2006 and recycles 780,000 metric tons of metals per year. The company's long-standing experience, full range of expertise, high level of quality and environmental certification, and the quality of its management and personnel make it an acknowledged player in the management of industrial waste metals.

Denis Gasquet, Chief Executive Officer of Veolia Environmental Services, said: “This acquisition adds to and strengthens our capabilities and capacities in the recycling of metals at a time when these raw materials are of growing importance in tense international markets. It's an important step in the roll-out of our strategy, and will help us continue to support our public and private clients in managing their waste in a cost-effective and environmentally responsible manner.“

The acquisition brings Veolia Environmental Services a commercial structure and top quality industrial technical equipment located mainly in the central and northern regions of France and in the Greater Paris area. The Bartin Recycling Group's clients include many major industrial companies, for which it recycles production scrap; this is a considerable strength for the growth of VES' industrial contracts.

In total, the acquisition will enable Veolia Environmental Services to renew, in the metal recovery market, its strategy of consolidating its internal and external growth around a solid central core.

JérÃ'me Le Conte, General Manager France of Veolia Environmental Services, added: “Given the importance of materials recovery as 50% of the world's steel is now produced from scrap metal, the collection and recycling of metals is becoming a key element in the palette of waste management activities. This acquisition will create excellent synergies and raise the metal recycling capacity of Veolia Environmental Services in France from 250,000 metric tons per year to over 1 million metric tons per year.“

Veolia Environmental Services and Beacon Landfill Gas Holdings Wins National EPA Award

Veolia Environmental Services (Veolia ES) is pleased to announce that the high Btu landfill gas project installed on its Greentree Landfill was chosen as the Environmental Protection Agency's Landfill Methane Outreach Program (EPA LMOP) “2007 Project of the Year.“ The award was made today at the 11th Annual LMOP Conference and Project Expo in Washington, DC. Each year, LMOP recognizes its partners for excellence in innovation and creativity; success in promoting project development; and achieving environmental and economic benefits.

Commercially operational since July 2007, the project at the Veolia ES Greentree Landfill is one of the largest high Btu projects in the United States. A collaborative effort between Veolia and Beacon Landfill Gas Holdings LLC, the project converts landfill gas into pipeline quality natural gas. This gas is then used to produce environmentally clean electric power while also reducing greenhouse gas emissions. “Collaboration combined with hard work and forward thinking are the key ingredients to successful alternative energy projects like the Greentree Landfill Gas to Energy project,“ said Rachel Goldstein, EPA LMOP Program Manager. “It is a win for the environment and our economy.“

Todd Watermolen, VP of Engineering and Environmental Compliance with Veolia ES Solid Waste, has been working on this particular landfill gas utilization project for almost 10 years. “Our goal has always been to go above and beyond in building a safe environment and sustainable future. It's great to see our efforts be nationally recognized by this important program.“

Ralph Daley, President of Beacon, concurred. “We're very proud of this project,“ he said. “The landfill gas at Greentree, that would otherwise be flared at the site, is turned into renewable energy gas, purchased by a third party and used to efficiently generate electricity at major central electric power plants. Gewinnwarnung Veolia mit Gewinnwarnung für 2008
10:13 20.06.08

Paris (aktiencheck.de AG) - Der französische Umweltkonzern Veolia Environnement S.A.

(20.06.2008/ac/n/a)

Paris (aktiencheck.de AG) - Der französische Umweltservice-Konzern Veolia Environnement S.A.
