Der PC-Fabrikant Gateway rechnet nun im vierten Quartal mit einem Verlust je Aktie zwischen 18 und 19 cents, zuvor war ein Verlust von 13 cents je Anteilsschein angepeilt worden. Darüber hinaus könnte eine Sonderbelastung von 3 cents je Aktie für die Beilegung eines Rechtsstreits mit einem großen Geschäftspartner anfallen. Statt eines Umsatzes von $1.2 Milliarden rechnet Gateway nun mit einem Umsatz von $1.06 Milliarden. Die Aktie verliert in der Nachbörse um 6.06% auf $3.10.

To meet the needs of a broad range of customers, the new Gateway 310 Series is available in several configurations that include the technology needed for multi-tasking and digital media applications. Configurations offer advanced Intel(R) Celeron(R) and Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 processors, as well as different optical drives including a CD-RW/DVD-ROM. Connecting the broadband- and network-ready Gateway 310 PCs to the Internet is easy with integrated 10/100 Ethernet and an integrated V.92 56K modem(3).
The standard configuration of the entry level model -- the Gateway(R) 310SE -- includes an Intel(R) Celeron(R) 2.20GHz processor, 128MB of DDR SDRAM, 40GB hard drive, a CD-ROM drive, Microsoft Windows XP Home, Microsoft Works 7.0 and Norton Anti-Virus software(4). The new computer, which is sold standard without a monitor, is priced at only $399(1).
The Gateway 310X defines the top end of the new value line with an Intel Pentium 4 processor 2.40GHz, 256MB DDR SDRAM, 40GB hard drive, CD-RW and DVD-ROM drives, a 17-inch CRT monitor (15.9" viewable), Microsoft Windows XP Home, Microsoft Works Suite 2003 and Norton Anti-Virus software for only $799(1)(4). Microsoft Windows XP Pro is available on the Gateway 310X for an additional $100(1). Beginning August 7, the Gateway 310X will be made available in Gateway stores for consumers to purchase and immediately take home(2).
