LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--William Tafuri, Director of Yellowcake Mining Inc. (OTCBB: YCKM - News; "Yellowcake"), is pleased to provide further information on the Juniper Ridge Project area near Baggs, Wyoming, USA. Yellowcake recently signed an LOI to option an 80% interest in properties in this area, the Red Creek located-claim blocks and adjacent Wyoming State Lease, from Strathmore Minerals Corp. (See news release dated January, 30, 2007).
The Juniper Ridge property is located in the Poison Basin in Carbon County, southern Wyoming, six miles west of the town of Baggs, Wyoming. Wyoming is responsible for over 200 million pounds of historical uranium production and was the second leading uranium production center in the United States.
Uranium was first discovered in the Poison Basin area in 1953 by geologists James Vine and George Prichard on behalf of the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission. Surface sample grades of up to 3.2 % U3O8 are reported. The property has been held by a series of companies since the 1950s, including Teton Exploration, AGIP Mining, Inc., Carbon Uranium Company, and, most recently, Urangesellschaft, USA. Previous exploration is substantial; approximately 2000 holes have been drilled.
Previous drilling by Urangesellschaft USA during 1975-79, outlined a potential resource of 8 to 15 million pounds of yellowcake (U3O8) (P.L. Collyer, 1979 report). By 1979, plans were made to build a mill and go to production at the rate of 2000 tons of ore per day. However, in 1979 global demand for uranium fell so the mill was never built.
The Juniper Ridge Project lies at the south end of a graben. The area is underlain by the flat-lying Miocene age Browns Park Formation which unconformably overlies the Eocene Green River and Wasatch Formations. The sands composing the Browns Park Formation are indicated to have been deposited as wind blown dunes.
The Browns Park Formation is divided into two distinct lithologies: a basal conglomerate member and overlying sandstone member, each of which host uranium deposits. Material provided to Yellowcake shows that uranium mineralization is present from the surface to 300 feet depth in discontinuous lenses and layers which range in thickness from less than one to several tens of feet at a mining grade of up to 0.20% U3O8.
From 1954 through 1966, seven companies recovered a total of over 500,000 pounds of yellowcake from ore with an average grade of 0.17 % U3O8 from 12 open pits. In the late 1970's, under the control of Urangesellschaft, the Juniper Ridge Project nearly went into full production.
Yellowcake and Strathmore plan to complete the definitive joint venture agreement and work towards advancing the development plans as soon as possible.

LOI mit Strathmore Minerals
LAS VEGAS, Jan 30, 2007
Yellowcake Mining Inc. (OTCBB: YCKM) ("Yellowcake"), is pleased to announce that it has entered into a binding letter of intent with Strathmore Minerals Corp. ("Strathmore") on The Baggs, Juniper Ridge Project (Red Creek Claims and associated State of Wyoming Lease) uranium properties in Wyoming, USA. Strathmore will option an 80% interest in the Baggs Properties to Yellowcake and will provide Yellowcake with the data package relative to the Baggs Properties. The property encompasses approximately 3,200 acres and over 2,000 historical drill holes have identified a potential resource.
William Tafuri, director of Yellowcake, commented: "This agreement represents a great opportunity for Yellowcake. Having the opportunity to develop this project and to have a joint venture partner like Strathmore is very instrumental to our success."
Under the terms of the transaction, Yellowcake will:
1. issue 9,000,000 shares to Strathmore upon closing;
2. pay $100,000 USD upon closing, and $100,000 USD on the subsequent anniversary dates for 4 years for a total obligation of $500,000 USD;
3. spend $1.6 million USD per year for a period of 5 years for a total commitment of $8 million USD. Yellowcake will earn 50% of the optioned interest upon spending $4 million USD and earn the remaining 50% optioned interest upon spending the additional $4 million USD; and
4. pay a Royalty payment of 3% on the optioned portion on all Future production.
Yellowcake will also finance the evaluation of the Strathmore Texas Database (also known as the Conoco files) which contains information regarding uranium prospects in Texas. Yellowcake will be obligated to fund any additional land leases to be acquired. Subsequently, Strathmore and Yellowcake will be 50/50 partners in the development of the identified targets resulting from the database.
Additionally, in order to fund its initial commitments of the transaction, Yellowcake will arrange for a financing of $4 million USD at $1.00 per unit, with each unit consisting of 1 share and 1/2 warrant at $1.50 for two years.
Strathmore's President and COO, David Miller, P. Geol., will be joining the Board of Yellowcake upon closing. Mr. Miller has over 25 years experience in the exploration and acquisition of mineral and uranium properties. Mr. Miller is also an elected member of the Wyoming Legislature, and has participated on committees and assignments on the Wyoming Energy Commission and the Energy Council.
Closing of the agreement is to take place within 90 days and is conditional on the parties agreeing to the terms of a definitive joint venture agreement, Yellowcake raising the $4 million USD and Yellowcake being satisfied as to the good standing of the property. As part of a concurrent restructuring, Yellowcake will cancel 56,000,000 affiliate shares held by a current director.
The uranium mining industry has experienced a major recovery as the price of uranium has increased over 900% in the past six years. Alles beginnt mit dem Förderprozess. Hierbei wird das Uranerz aus der Erde gefördert. Hierauf folgt der Mahlprozess. Das Uranerz wird dabei zu einem Pulver verarbeitet, dem so genannten „Yellowcake“. Dieser Yellowcake ist das handelbare U308. Hier habe ich im Übrigen ein Bild von U308 für Sie:
Hernach folgt der Konversionsprozess. Hierbei wird Uran mit Flourin kombiniert und zu Uran Hexaflourid Gas umgewandelt. (UF6). Jetzt folgt der Prozess der Anreicherung. Im UF6 ist nämlich das Isotop U235 enthalten. Dieses wird bei der Anreicherung von seinem natürlich enthaltenen Level von 0,7 % in UF6 auf ein Level von 4 – 5 % angereichert. Dieses Level wird für die Verarbeitung in Kernkraftreaktoren verwendet. Nun kommt der Fabrikationsschritt. Hierbei wird das angereicherte UF6 in Urandioxid Pulver konvertiert, zu zylindrischen Pellets geformt und hernach in Brennstäben versiegelt. Die Brennstäbe werden schliesslich gebündelt. Nun kommt der letzte Schritt: Die Energieerzeugung. Hierbei werden die Brennstabgruppen in den Kernreaktor geladen, wo die Spaltung des U253 Atoms Hitze, welche wiederum Dampf erzeugt, welcher schliesslich genutzt wird um Elektrizität zu erzeugen.
Akzeptanz als saubere Energie
Die Energiegewinnung mittels Uran ist an sich eine saubere Sache. Hierbei entstehen keine giftigen oder die Atmosphäre belastenden Emissionen. Das einzige Problem ist die Restmüllendlagerung, doch angesichts vorherrschender klimatischer Veränderungen aufgrund der CO2 Emissionen, ist die Kernenergie die einzige vernünftige Alternative zur Stromerzeugung. Wind und Wasserkraft haben weder die nötige Effizienz, noch Kapazität um den Energiehunger der Welt zu befriedigen. Und auch die Solarenergie hat noch immer mit argen Kinderkrankheiten zu kämpfen.
Steigende Nachfrage
Deshalb steigt die Nachfrage nach der Kernenergie unaufhörlich. Seit 2003 hat sich der Preis für U308 von 11 auf 75 US Dollar pro Pfund fast versiebenfacht.
Gegenwärtig werden 16 % des weltweiten Strombedarfs mittels Kernenergie gedeckt. Doch der Energieverbrauch der Welt steigt unaufhörlich, besonders neu durch die asiatischen Staaten, allen voran China. Bis zum Jahr 2030 dürfte sich der Energieverbrauch der welt verfünffacht haben.
Keine Wunder, dass die internationale Atomenergiebehörde in den nächsten 15 Jahren den Bau von weiteren 168 neuen Atomreaktoren erwartet. Vor allem in China, Russland, Indien, Japan und den USA.
Im Übrigen: Auch kein Wunder, dass Herr Ahmadinedschad aus dem Iran ebenfalls endlich auch einen Reaktor bauen möchte. Eigentlich eine nachvollziehbare Überlegung.
Geringes Angebot
Doch leider wächst das Angebot nicht auch parallel zur Nachfrage. Im Gegenteil die Angebotsseite wächst derartig langsam, dass ab 2015 mit einem Nachfrageüberhang zu rechnen ist.
Uran ist nämlich nicht so einfach zu fördern, überdies werden zu wenig neue Lagerstätten entdeckt. Hinzu kommen Projektfehlschläge, wie die Überflutung der Cigar Lake Mine zeigt. Dieses hätte das einzige neu erschlossene und in Förderung gehende Vorkommen für die nächsten Jahre sein sollen. Doch leider liegt es nun unter verstrahltem Wasser.
Auch das Cigar Lake Desaster hilft natürlich die Preise zu stärken.
Doch schon heute werden 37 % des weltweiten Bedarfs nicht durch primäre Vorkommen (also neu gefördertes Uran) gedeckt, sondern durch alternative Uranquellen.
Solche sind zum Beispiel staatliche Lagerbestände, Uran aus der Abrüstung von Waffen und durch die Anreicherung von ausgebranntem Uran in Kernkraftwerken.
Es ist sehr gut möglich, dass in Zukunft der Anteil der alternativen Uranquellen weiter ansteigen wird. Doch wenn diese Alternativen aufgebraucht werden und die Förderunge noch immer nachhinkt, wird die steigende Nachfrage die Uranpreise noch weiter in ungeahnte Höhen treiben.
Uran verspricht eben doch eine strahlende Zukunft.

Es hört sich sehr gut an.
Denn wenn man an die Klimaveränderung durch herkömmliche Energien denkt, ist sicher uranangereichertes Material für die Endlagerung das geringere Problem.
Und den Chinesen und auch bei den Indern wird der Energiebedarf immer rasanter im Steigen sein, als bei den westlichen Ländern.

Doch genau in diesem Jahr sank die globale Nachfrage nach Uran so sehr, dass der Bau der Mühle unrentabel geworden
wäre. Die Pläne wurden bis heute nicht in die Tat umgesetzt! Beim heutigen Uran-Preis jedoch, wäre der Abbau des Erzes überaus rentabel!
Das interessante an der Juniper Ridge-Liegenschaft: Die Uran-Mineralisierung erstreckt sich von der Oberfläche bis zu 300 Fuß Tiefe mit Gehalten bis zu 0,20 % U3O8 ! Ein Abbau wird somit einfacher und rentabler als viele andere bereits etablierte Projekte ablaufen!
Yellowcake Mining und Strathmore wollen ihre Zusammenarbeit weiter ausbauen, und arbeiten an der Weiterentwicklung des Juniper Ridge-Projektes.
Auf Neuigkeiten darf man hier also gespannt sein!
