Der Monster Beschäftigungsindex aus den USA notiert für Juli bei 183. Im Vormonat lag der Index bei 186, ein Jahr zuvor hatte er bei 165 notiert. Sein letztes Hoch hatte der Index im Mai diesen Jahres mit 189. Seit dem ist der Beschäftigungsindex wieder zurückgefallen.
Die Zahl der Erstanträge ist in den USA auf 307.000 gestiegen. Erwartet wurden 310.000 bis 315.000 neue Anträge nach zuvor 303.000 (revidiert von 301.000).
Die US-amerikanischen Industrieaufträge sind im Juni um 0,6 % gestiegen. Erwartet wurde ein Anstieg im Bereich 1,0 bis 1,1 %. Im Vormonat waren die Industrieaufträge um 0,5 % geschrumpft.
Die US-amerikanischen Erdgasvorräte ("Nat Gas Inventories") sind in der letzten Woche um 77 Bcf auf 2.840 Bcf gestiegen. In der vorangegangenen Woche waren die Bestände in den USA um 71 Bcf gewachsen, im Vorjahr hatten sie bei 2,772 Bcf gelegen.

Die US-amerikanische Arbeitslosenquote liegt im Juli bei 4,6 %. Erwartet wurde sie im Bereich von 4,5 bis 4,6 %. Im Vormonat hatte sie bei 4,5 % gelegen.
Die durchschnittlichen Stundenlöhne sind in den USA im Juli um 0,3 % bzw. 0,06 US-Dollar gegenüber dem Vormonat auf 17,45 US-Dollar gestiegen. Im Vorfeld war bereits mit einem Anstieg um 0,3 % gerechnet worden. Der Vormonatsanstieg ist auf 0,4 % hoch revidiert worden, von ehemals veröffentlichten +0,3 %.

Worldwide Chip Sales Grew by 2.1 Percent in First Half of 2007

SAN JOSE, Calif. – August 3, 2007– Worldwide sales of semiconductors grew to $121 billion in the first half of 2007, an increase of 2 percent from the $118.4 billion reported for the first half of 2006, the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) reported today. Second-quarter sales of $59.9 billion declined by 2 percent from the $61.1 billion reported in the first quarter of 2007. Sales in June 2007 amounted to $20 billion, a decline of 1.7 percent from the $20.3 billion reported in May.
“Continuing rapid price attrition in several important market segments held growth in total semiconductor sales to just over 2 percent in the first half of 2007 despite increases in total unit shipments of almost 7 percent,” said SIA President George Scalise. “End unit demand in major industry drivers, including personal computers and cell phones is growing in line with forecasts. Together, these two market sectors drive about 60 percent of semiconductor demand,” Scalise added.
“Sales of personal computers were strong in the second quarter, with unit growth now projected at more than 10 percent for 2007,” Scalise continued. “PC buyers are continuing to reap the benefits of declining prices for microprocessors and DRAMs, which enable PC manufacturers to offer very powerful systems at attractive prices. The average price of a desktop system has fallen to around $700, while the memory content of these machines has increased by approximately 50 percent over last year.”
”Unit shipments of cell phones are on track for 10 percent growth in 2007,” Scalise noted. Unit sales of DSP chips, key components of mobile phones, grew by 3 percent in the first half, an indication that there may have been excess inventory in the supply chain at the start of the year.
“The major story for the chip industry for the first half of 2007 continues to be rapid price attrition,” said Scalise. “DRAM prices declined nearly 40 percent while unit shipments grew by almost 66 percent year on year,” Scalise continued. “The pattern was similar, if somewhat less dramatic, in the NAND flash segment, especially early in the year. NAND unit shipments grew by almost 40 percent compared to June of 2006 but ASPs declined by just over 15 percent. Recently NAND prices have been stabilizing, and the price decline in June was the smallest we’ve seen this year.”
SIA reported that sales of microprocessors declined by 3 percent sequentially but were up by more than 7 percent from June of 2006. Unit shipments of microprocessors were up by 19 percent for the first half of 2007 compared to the first half of 2006 while the rate of year-on-year price attrition in this segment has now fallen below 10 percent for the first time this year.
“The industry sales increase of 2.1% in the first half is slightly ahead of our June revised forecast calling for 2007 sales to increase 1.8 percent.
We expect that key end markets will grow in line with expectations through the remainder of the year, and that total semiconductor sales for 2007 will meet the revised forecast,” Scalise concluded.

Die Lohnstückkosten (im Nonfarm Business) sind in den USA im zweiten Quartal saisonbereinigt zum Vorquartal um 2,1 % gestiegen. Erwartet wurde ein Plus in Höhe von 1,6 %. Im Quartal zuvor hatte der Anstieg bei 3,0 % gelegen, damit wurde der zuvor veröffentlichte Wert deutlich von zuvor 1,8 % nach oben revidiert.
Die US-amerikanische Arbeitsproduktivität (im Nonfarm Business) ist im zweiten Quartal saisonbereinigt und annualisiert um 1,8 % gestiegen. Erwartet wurde ein Anstieg um 2,0 bis 2,2 % nach +0,7 % im Vorquartal (revidiert von +1,0 %).
Die US-amerikanischen Verbraucherkredite haben sich im Juni um 13,1 Mrd. US-Dollar ausgeweitet. Erwartet wurde ein Anstieg um 3,5 bis 6,0 Mrd. US-Dollar. Zuvor war ein Anstieg um rund 16,0 Mrd. US-Dollar zu verzeichnen gewesen. Damit wurde der Vormonatswert von 12,9 Mrd. US-Dollar nach oben revidiert.
Der Großhandelsumsatz in den USA ist im Juni um 0,6 % gestiegen, während ein Plus von 0,7 % erwartet wurde..
Die US-amerikanischen Lagerbestände im Großhandel sind im Berichtsmonat um 0,5 % gewachsen. Erwartet wurde hier ein Anstieg im Bereich von 0,4 % nach +0,5 % zuvor. Damit wurde der Vormonatswert bestätigt.

Die US-amerikanischen Rohölvorräte (Crude Oil Inventories) sind in der vorangegangenen Woche um 4,1 Mio. Barrel gesunken, nach zuvor -6,5 Mio. Barrel.
Die Benzinvorräte (Gasoline Inventories) haben sich in den USA im Wochenvergleich um 1,7 Mio. Barrel verringert, nach zuletzt einem Plus in Höhe von 600.000 Barrel.
Die Vorräte an Destillaten (Distillate Inventories), die auch das Heizöl beinhalten, sind gegenüber der Vorwoche in den Vereinigten Staaten um 1,0 Mio. Barrel gewachsen, nach zuvor +2,8 Mio. Barrel.

Washington, D.C. (August 8, 2007)-- The Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) today released its Weekly Mortgage Applications Survey for the week ending August 3, 2007. The Market Composite Index, a measure of mortgage loan application volume, was 656.5, an increase of 8.1 percent on a seasonally adjusted basis from 607.1 one week earlier. On an unadjusted basis, the Index increased 7.7 percent compared with the previous week and was up 18.0 percent compared with the same week one year earlier.
The Refinance Index increased 9.1 percent to 1881.1 from 1724.1 the previous week and the seasonally adjusted Purchase Index increased 7.4 percent to 447.4 from 416.6 one week earlier. On an unadjusted basis, the Purchase Index increased 6.8 percent to 486.9 from 455.7 the previous week. The seasonally adjusted Conventional Index increased 8.0 percent to 958.5 from 887.2 the previous week, and the seasonally adjusted Government Index increased 9.3 percent to 152.9 from 139.9 the previous week.
The four week moving average for the seasonally adjusted Market Index is up 1.2 percent to 626.0 from 618.5. The four week moving average is down 0.4 percent to 433.7 from 435.3 for the Purchase Index, while this average is up 3.6 percent to 1753.9 from 1692.8 for the Refinance Index.
The refinance share of mortgage activity increased to 39.9 percent of total applications from 39.4 percent the previous week. The adjustable-rate mortgage (ARM) share of activity increased to 22.5 from 22.3 percent of total applications from the previous week.
The average contract interest rate for 30-year fixed-rate mortgages decreased to 6.41 percent from 6.50 percent, with points decreasing to 1.62 from 1.66 (including the origination fee) for 80 percent loan-to-value (LTV) ratio loans.
The average contract interest rate for 15-year fixed-rate mortgages decreased to 6.16 from 6.20 percent, with points decreasing to 1.18 from 1.30 (including the origination fee) for 80 percent LTV loans.
The average contract interest rate for one-year ARMs decreased to 5.69 from 5.73 percent, with points decreasing to 1.09 from 1.12 (including the origination fee) for 80 percent LTV loans.
