HELSINKI, Apr 29 (PRIME) -- Having branched out significantly from its traditionally Nordic playing field in the past several years, Finnish steelmaker Rautaruukki Corporation (Ruukki) has set itself the goal of filling a niche that it claims previously lay barren in Russia – the specialized steel industry.
"In Russia, we are going for the segments where there are no analogous products at this point," said Toni Hemminki, Senior Vice President of Technology, Energy and Environment at Ruukki, in an interview with PRIME during a visit to the company"s production site.

Since product standards have been harmonized, CE marking makes it easier to compare different manufacturers.
For developers, CE marked products mean certification is valid across the European Union and in European Economic Area countries. Harmonized standards are particularly important for developers with operations in more than one country. CE marking replaces local certificates.

A large investment in state of the art machines seems to pay off for the young company based in the small village of Arbra, Sweden.
In less than 18 months WTJ has reached a turnover of more than 30 million Swedish kronor as a subcontractor of plows, excavator buckets, trailers, pounders and more. The customers are found in a number of industries and are both local and international.
The machinery includes the largest welding robot in Sweden, a press brake that handles sheet metal of 1,250 tonnes and with a width of seven metres, and a laser cutting machine for sheet metal in sizes of up to 6500 mm x 2500 mm. Any assignment, whether it is to cut and bend pieces of steel from seven centimetres to as much as seven metres, are possible thanks to the modern machinery.

Ruukki specializes in steel and steel construction classic solar thermal roof has been installed on the roof of a prototype school building in the Science Park Galilei at Heureka. Working together with Finn Church Aid, Earth House Oy has designed a building that produces electricity without being connected to the grid.
Mr Jouni Metsämäki, SVP, Building Components, at Ruukki, said that "Ruukki Classic solar thermal roof has been designed to generate energy to heat the domestic water of a single family home, but the heat collector is also ideal for other applications, such as this prototype school building, where the aim is to be self-sufficient in energy production."
Earth House presents its building systems for developing countries in the Science Park Galilei at Heureka, in Vantaa, Finland. Earth House buildings can be used to build entire villages, including houses and schools. The building materials can also vary depending on what is available locally. Earth House aims to provide an ecological solution, for example, for humanitarian organizations, to building in developing countries and in disaster areas after catastrophes. The materials for the prototype school building have been kindly donated.
Mr Mikko Myllykoski, experience director at Heureka, said that "The building can help give the public a broad picture of renewable energy sources and also compare their output in different weather conditions. At the same time, the problems gripping the entire world are highlighted through the solutions and not just from the catastrophe aspect."
